Runcorn Cycle Club hoest it's first ever Open 10mile Time Trial up at Rainford on Saturday 21st April.
WIth over 90 entrants all vying for vauable LTTCA points, there was a number of strong entries which made for a very competitive days racing. Much to our delight at RCC HQ, we accpeted and entry from 2x Olympic Gold Medal cyclist Steven Burke. Steven put in one of the fastest times of the day, but it ewas not to be his day as Simon Wilson -Ribble Pro Cycling, took the spoills with an impressive 19m43s. Darren Maironis - Velotik Racing Team finished second with 21m00s with Steven Burke in third with 21m09s.
The ladies places were also tighly contetest with Deborah MOss - Team Merlin in first with 23:52, Kate Giddings - Liverpool Century second with 24:15 and Janet Fairclough St Helens CRC third with 25:39.
A little team rivalry from Trek Innovation Racing in the junior section saw Jack Smith and Sam Carmichael battle it out with Jack taking it following a fine run of 22:24. Sam Carmichael did well with a 23:26. I'm sure both will improve loads over the years and we're proud to claim Sam as one of our own being a local Runcon lad.
The Team award went to Surface Design Racing with a combined time for the fastest 3 riders of a team at 1hr 8 mins 28 secs.
RCC enjoyed putting on the event and we'd like to thank all those who took part. particular thanks to all the volunteers who made it happen.
Hopefully we'll see you all next year
